Korean Wave

What is Korean Wave? Korean pop music, drama, culture, movie, entertainment, etc is spreading its popularity around the world. Korean Wave is also known as "hallyu". It was first introduced in China as Korean pop music took the heart of Chinese people. Now, it's global, it's power has even ruled over Europe. The rulling of Korean culture around the world is called Korean Wave.

Korea has made great contributions on introducing Korea around the globe. K-pop, which is Korean pop music, has not only prospered in Asia, but also in Europe and America. No matter what kind of continent is Korean Wave has reached and succeded. CNN has noted "hollywood of the East" in December 2010. BBC has reported that Korean Wave has become a national brand like Samsung and Hyundai.

Korea.net described "K-pop, television dramas, and movies have gained phenomenal popularity, becoming the newest engine for expanding the country's cultural exports and an integral part of Korea's national image. The enthusiasm has often led to Hallyu fans craving other Korean cultural content and Korean language education. The booming presence and enjoyment of Korean popular culture has also transformed into preference for other Korean products and lifestyles alike, leading to an increase in Korean product sales overseas. The growing interest in Korean culture has further triggered a rise in inbound foreign tourists."

How to keep our environment safe

Chongshin University has beautiful garden called "Eden". Couples enjoy a good time talking in Eden and other students play catch or they spend area as a chatting place. Cherry blossom trees bloomed few weeks ago, and the scene was just beautiful. But, now a days I see grasses are going to die. They lost their greenish plant color. Chongshin students have to work to keep the environment safe and reserve the environment to the best quality. There are three ways that keep our environment healthy.

First students should not step on the grass, Grasses are dying because people are playing catch on the grass, People have to be aware that stepping on grass hurt them just like people are stepping on our shoes. Second, they should not leave trash in the environment area. I see some bottles and snack bags around Eden. This will hurt the plant and make the area very messy. Lastly, Third, students should keep the atmosphere civilized. They should not shout, fight, or scream near the environment. Plants can react to the noisy sound. There was even an experiment on the reaction of plant from noisy sound and classic sound. The plant that heard classic music were able to grow faster.

We have the responsibility to keep the surrounding environment safe. Plants supply oxygen to us, present beautiful scenery, and provide the area to enjoy with our friends. Therefore we must care and love the environment around us.

TED 3 minute video lecture

I watched 3 minute video lecture from TED. The topic of the lecture was "SLEEP".
The specker was Arianna Huffington.
She first talked about her awful experience from not getting enough sleep.
Due to lack of sleep, she fainted and hit her head on the desk. Not only that, plus she broke her cheek bone, gor 5 stitches right above her right eye. From this incident, she found out the value of sleep.
She said that the way of having joyful life is getting enough sleep. High IQ does not lead to good leader. Leader must be able to see the iceberg before hitting the titanic. This means that he/she needs to have right amount of sleep so that he can look at the bigger picture.
In final sentence she said, "Shut your eye and discover the great ideas that lie inside us. Shut your engine and discover the power of sleep."
The video was quite interesting. Korean high schoolers are not having enough sleep, so I want to recommend this video to them. In order to get good grade, they have to get enough sleep!
